Carers Rights Day 2017 and Support for Young Carers Here at GO! we wanted to join with other organisations to recognise Carers rights day, as more people in the UK become carers it is so vital that we can help raise their voice and support the issues that face them every single day and to make sure that importantly carers know their rights. We provide short breaks and support for parents who bring their children to our clubs and events a lot of which are aimed at young people with additional needs. A lot of families and people in the UK and some that we work with have had to give up full time work to become carers and we know  the hardships they can face is very real. Equally there are young people who are the main carer for parents, family members or siblings which is a huge amount of responsibility. We want to join today to raise awareness of Carers in the UK and support this great campaign 'Carers Rights Day' being run by Carers UK! Each year Carers UK hold Carers Rights Day to bring organisations across the UK together to help carers in their local community know their rights and find out how to get the help and support they are entitled to. Support For Young Carers.

It is reported that there are over 700.000 young carers in Britain. This means that they are looking after someone who is ill or disabled, or they are looking after other members while they can’t. Being a young carer means that they do more chores, cleaning and cooking, provide emotional support. They may have to provide personal care, like help with washing and dressing. Other children may not understand your responsibilities and that you have less, if not no, spare time. Many young carers cope incredibly well especially those who have other family support. But there are other support options out there. If you find you are getting Stressed Physically tired Constantly worrying about the person you care for Not enough time to do homework or actually missing school Feeling embarrassed, low self esteem, being bullied, feelings of anger or guilt The first places to go to are your teachers, school nurse, college counsellor or Doctor.
